Banshee Fever

Hey! Colin Farrell was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for Banshees of Inisherin! Am I prescient or what???

In important Colin Farrell Project news: I’ve decided to abandon the chronological approach. I like the more organic journey I’ve been going on, and in that spirit, it seemed like about time to watch The Banshees of Inisherin again and write about it before we go too much farther. It’s of the moment, so let’s talk about it.

More on that in a moment. First:

I’ve seen some amazing accents since the last time I spoke to you. You’ll recall that I have strong feelings about accents, especially about citizens of the UK doing American accents. Out of an overwhelming need to binge a brand new show, I am currently knee-deep in M. Night Shyamalan’s Apple TV series Servant, which has been wonderful comfort food (I often don’t totally understand what’s going on, but I cannot stop watching this thing), which not only features Ron Weasley doing an American accent — I guess maybe it’s supposed to be a Philly accent? It sounds like a British guy doing a sometimes pretty okay American accent — but also stars Claire from Six Feet Under, the one and only! (Yes, Ron Weasley and Claire are cast as siblings because they’re both redheads, and I can’t argue with that casting. I’m not questioning it, are you?)

Okay, but there’s one film that makes all other accent commentary obsolete and unnecessary, because it is the movie with the most insane accent work in cinema history, and it just came out last year, and I’ve finally seen it, and it is, of course, House of Gucci. Please everyone watch… I’m gonna say some of this film, and you’ll get the idea, and then you can stop if you want. And let’s all get cracking on a campaign to get Colin Farrell in the sequel!

Speaking of gingers and House of Gucci, because I watched House of Gucci with him this weekend, the next entry, which as mentioned will be about The Banshees of Inisherin, will feature Doug! Here’s what you need to know about Doug: he grew up in St. Louis and loves the Cardinals more than almost anything, and he also loves motorcycling, thrift shopping, jumping off things into the water, meat pies, the Grateful Dead, hip-hop, British TV, old-timey bluegrass music, The Simpsons, cooking, the driving range, Survivor, and he’s an authority on The Jersey Shore (I believe at this point he’s watched the entire original and all reboots). Man, it is not easy writing these little summaries of people!

Anyway, the next entry will be another one that’s made with love, although it will be a little different than the last one. Speaking of journeys, thank you all for coming with me on this journey as I continue to experiment. Thank you, truly, for reading.

See you next time! Father, son, house of Farrell!
